“For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh everyone who languishes.” Jeremiah 31:25 NASB
Ahh summer. Good times. Relaxing times. But sometimes it gets hot. Really hot. And we desire a quick dip in the pool. Why? Because that cool water on our overheated skin is refreshing. Ahhhhhh. It just feels so good and we enjoy it. And guess what? Our spiritual life should be like that too.
Sometimes, even when things are going well, we get a little weary. Like when you want that quick dip in the pool. Our spiritual pool is God. He tells us in Jeremiah that He satisfies the weary and refreshes those who are fading. I don't know of any body of water that can do that. In fact, I don't know of anything that can truthfully make that claim.
Feeling like you need to be recharged or refreshed? Pray. Worship. Read your Bible. Go get in God's presence. He will satisfy and refresh. It shouldn't feel like a chore or simply a checklist item. Oh no! It should feel good and we should spend time enjoying his presence. After all, if we can enjoy some physical water, how much more the One who can quench every thirst and water every root.
Sit in His presence and soak Him up. Acts 3:19 says times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord. So what are you waiting for? Go spend some time with Him. He's waiting with delight to be your refreshment.
What is one way I can spend intentional time in God's presence today? What can I give up today to do just that?
