Have you ever felt insignificant? That "I'm just not anything special" feeling? If not, trust me, I have felt it enough for both of us. The thing is, it's not true. No matter how much and often our feelings tell us we aren't special, wanted or needed, it's just not true. I know this because I have read chapter 1 of Ephesians. It tells me that I am chosen. And since the Bible is God's Word to all of us, it means YOU are chosen too. We matter to God. We are special to Him. So even if we think no human being considers us special, the creator and sustainer of the universe does. I don't know about you, but I'll take His assessment of me over anyone and everyone else.

In case you've never read it for yourself, I've included a summary below of Ephesians 1:1-14, which is where we can see how and why God has chosen us. But I really want you to let the words settle into your soul, so I encourage you to read the actual chapter here.

  1. I am chosen to be blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ (1:3)

  2. I am chosen to be holy and blameless in love before Him (1:4)

  3. I am chosen to be adopted as a daughter through Jesus Christ (1:5)

  4. I am chosen to be lavished with God's glorious grace, in the Beloved One, Jesus Christ (1:6)

  5. I am chosen to be redeemed through Christ's blood (1:7)

  6. I am chosen to be forgiven of my sins according to the riches of God's grace (1:7)

  7. I am chosen to have grace richly poured out on me with all wisdom and understanding (1:8)

  8. I am chosen to have revealed to me the mysteries of God's will (1:9)

  9. I am chosen to receive and inheritance (1:11)

  10. I am chosen to bring praise to God's glory (1:12)

  11. I am chosen to believe in Christ (1:13)

  12. I am chosen to hear the Word of truth (1:13)

  13. I am chosen to be sealed with the promised Holy Spirit

Y'all I feel good every time I read these. So, two things. First, I would love to hear which of these resonated most with you. Or tell me which one surprised you. Second, if you would like a visual reminder of these statements, head to the resources page and download a colorful copy of them for yourself (and maybe a friend or two).

Remember, you are chosen!

Always His,
